Crucified Christ, The

This book, composed of fourteen messages given by Brother Witness Lee in Taipei, Taiwan, in the summer of 1952, concerns the crucified Christ as the secret to Christian living and growth in life and as the way for God to accomplish His eternal purpose.
The life and the way    ch.1
All saved ones possessing a dual life, nature, and personality
The Lord being pressed in us
A grain of wheat abiding alone unless it falls into the ground and dies
God desiring that man be transformed in life inwardly
God desiring that Christ be lived out from within us
Christ needing broken vessels to be channels of living water
Those who are in God’s hand having many wounds
There being the outlet of life only when there is the breaking of the cross
“Jesus Christ, and this one crucified”
Everything of the old creation having been crucified with Christ
Christ and His cross issuing in life and the way of life
God’s eternal purpose and God’s work    ch.2
The mingling of God and man — God becoming man and man becoming God
God’s eternal purpose — God mingling Himself with man
Christ being mingled with us to transform us
Christ being formed in us
Christ being magnified always
The growth of the church hinging on the increase of the element of Christ

Reading the Bible for Christ to increase in us
Touching the Lord in whatever we do
Getting rid of ourselves for Christ to increase in us

God being infinite and His life also being infinite
The infinite God coming into the finite man
The death of the cross doing the breaking work
A grain of wheat abiding alone unless it falls into the ground and dies
The Lord’s life being released through the death of the cross
The Lord entering into His believers as their life after His resurrection
The multiplication of Christians
The church being the extension and the spread of Christ
Christ’s living in us
The treasure being in earthen vessels
The Christian growth being dependent on knowing Christ as life
A Christian’s power being in Christ who lives in us
Choosing to live by Christ

Jesus Christ being the one who was crucified
Christ as the crucified one being the center of God’s salvation
The crucified Christ being the unique way to accomplish God’s purpose
The significance of the cross being death and termination
Christ being the expression of God and the cross being the termination of man
Neither doing evil nor doing good by ourselves
The purpose of God’s salvation being to put man on the cross
God’s life being expressed through us when we are finished
The doctrine of the cross having no effect on man’s living
Where the cross is, Christ is
The experience of the cross    ch.5
God paying attention not to right and wrong but to Christ
The difficulty of man in ceasing His activities
Not our being obedient to the biblical teachings, but the Lord living Himself out through us
Both love and hatred being the expression of ourselves
The experience of the cross terminating ourselves
Denying the self, taking up the cross, and following the Lord
Having already been crucified with the Lord
To bear the cross being to see that we are terminated
Having spiritual experiences by passing through the cross
Loving the Lord purely
The cross doing the killing work
Those who are pure having passed through the cross
The requirements for receiving the cross    ch.6
That we may be filled unto all the fullness of God
God in Christ dwelling in us through the Holy Spirit
The factors and requirements for believers to experience the Triune God
Needing to have faith toward Him
Needing to have love toward Him
Man having three parts — spirit, soul, and body
God’s spreading from our spirit to our soul beginning with our heart
Four points concerning prayer for God’s work    ch.7
God’s work being based upon our prayer
God not desiring to work alone but wanting man to work together with him
God lacking man’s cooperation on the earth
Setting aside time for prayer every day
Having a heart for the Lord
The Spirit’s entering
Receiving the gifts and the calling
Spreading the work and establishing the churches
The reality of the church    ch.8
The reality of the church being Christ
Christ being God mingled with man
A Christian being one who has Christ in him
The church being the totality of all those who have Christ in them
The way to experience Christ
The three Marys
The first Mary being one who lost her own status
Being baptized into Christ    ch.9
Christ being the essence of a christian and of the church
Believing in the Lord
Baptism
The second Mary — knowing and experiencing the Lord’s death
The third Mary — desperately seeking the Lord
Bread breaking — receiving Christ    ch.10

Remembering the Lord not being meditating on the Lord
To remember the Lord being to eat the Lord’s body and drink the Lord’s blood
The Lord becoming our food
Eating and drinking the Lord being to receive the Lord
Eating, drinking, and remembering the Lord in spirit
Remembering the Lord being to receive the Lord again
Breaking bread being to partake of the Lord’s table
Living out Christ    ch.11
Spiritual reality being Christ
Christ being our life
To be saved being to receive God’s life in addition to man’s life
Living not by our own life but by God’s life
Christians having Christ in them as their life
Living by Christ to live out Christ
Christian growth    ch.12
All spiritual matters related to a Christian depending on Christ
God’s desire being that Christ would be man’s life and living
God’s eyes being on Christ
God wanting man to deny Himself and live by Christ
The subjective problem of man being man Himself
Spiritual progress being the addition of the element of Christ
Living out Christ rather than morality
God’s purpose being for Christ to be formed in us
Being unable to do anything apart from the Lord    ch.13
Doing all things by abiding in the Lord
Abiding in the Lord to bear much fruit
The goal of the gospel being for Christ to enter into man
Christ being the center and the reality of all our spiritual activities
Ministering Christ to others so that they may have more of Christ
Christ being all and in all
Needing to fellowship with the Lord in everything we do
Restoring our fellowship with the Lord through dealings
Christ being the unique goal
The church being Christ    ch.14
The Head of the church being Christ, and the church as the Body of Christ also being Christ
The church being Christ Himself
Christian service being Christ
Genuine service being service that touches Christ and flows out Christ
Spiritual gifts being Christ Himself
Every member of the Body of Christ having a function
The manifestation of functions — gifts — through the growth in life
The manifestation of gifts being entirely dependent upon us
The development of life for the exercise of gifts
