G. The church in Philadelphia prefigures the church of brotherly love, the recovery of the proper church life, from the early part of the nineteenth century to the second appearing of the Lord
1. Keeping the Lord’s word with the little power she has
2. Not denying the Lord’s name as the denominated sects
3. Given an open door which no one can shut
4. Subduing the Judaizers and their Judaic teachings
5. Promised to be kept out of the hour of trial which is about to come on the whole inhabited earth
6. The Lord’s promise to the overcomers of this stage
a. To receive a crown
b. To be made a pillar in the temple of God for God’s building
c. To be the components of the New Jerusalem in the millennium, bearing the name of God, the name of God’s city, and the Lord’s new name
H. The church in Laodicea foreshadows the degraded church life of the brothers from the latter part of the nineteenth century to the Lord’s return
1. Becoming lukewarm
2. To be vomited out of the Lord’s mouth
3. Boasting that she is rich and has need of nothing, yet not knowing that she is wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked
4. Needing to buy from the Lord
a. Refined gold, the proving of faith for partaking of the divine element of Christ, for them to be fit for the golden lampstand
b. White garments, conduct approvable to the Lord, which is the Lord Himself lived out of the church, to cover her nakedness
c. Eyesalve, the anointing Spirit who is also the Lord Himself as the life-giving Spirit, for her blindness
5. Keeping the Lord outside her door
6. The Lord’s promise to the overcomers of this stage
a. To have the Lord come in to them and dine with them and they with the Lord
b. To be given to sit with the Lord on His throne
I. All the last four kinds of churches will remain until the Lord’s coming back
